A. Narayanan, MLA of the All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi (AISMK), has been expelled from the party for functioning in a unilateral manner, party leader R. Sarath Kumar said on Wednesday.
In a statement here, he said the party’s general secretary, Karu. Nagarajan, and a few others who had joined the BJP also had been expelled from the primary membership of the AISMK.
“As regards Mr. Narayanan, who is also vice-president of the party, action was taken for not abiding by the party rules and indulging in anti-party activities,” Mr. Sarath Kumar said.
Both Mr. Sarath Kumar and Mr. Narayanan contested on the ruling AIADMK’s symbol and were elected from Tenkasi and Nanguneri constituencies respectively to the Assembly.
Mr. Narayanan, a native of Valavallan village, is known as Ernavur Narayanan as he settled in Chennai along with his brother Radhakrishnan, who was killed in business rivalry.
Mr. Sarath Kumar has also convened a high-level committee meeting of the party on Thursday to chalk out the next course of action.
