Sailing camp for students

Commemorating the 373 year of the arrival of the British East India Company along Chennaipattinam, Adventure n Nature, in collaboration with the Royal Madras Yacht Club, has been hosting a sailing coaching camp for five weekends. The camp, which started on August 18, will be on till September 16. The camp is targeted at school students starting from the age of seven till 15. The participants can learn sailing on Optimist and Enterprise sailboats.

The classes will be of four-hour duration and after 10 classes, participants will be ready to compete in the September regatta. The students will be able to accompany professional sailors on the Sea Bird, which can accommodate four sailors. Students will get a hands-on-experience of sailing right from learning to tie the boat knots to working with others as a team.

Coinciding with the above camp, there will be a separate batch for working professions. They can learn sailing in pairs and fours on sailboats such as the Sea Bird and 420.

For the students’ camp, a maximum of six students will be selected. The next batch, which started yesterday, (September 1), will end on October 6. For registration and other details, contact Ahamed Azad on 99403 55521 / 91761 30365.
