Saidapet to AG-DMS Metro stretch tested for safety

The section is likely to be operational in two weeks

The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) K.A. Manoharan inspected the underground stretch of Chennai Metro Rail from Saidapet to AG-DMS on Friday. This stretch is likely to become operational in about two weeks.

According to officials of Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL), they looked at various civil works, the operational readiness of the system and overhead electrical system. He also inspected the passenger information displays, lifts, escalators, passenger emergency telephones and public announcement. This inspection will continue for two more days after which, CMRS will issue an approval. Only if there is an approval, the services for public can begin in this stretch.

On Wednesday, he also inspected the stretch from Nehru Park to Shenoy Nagar.
