Residents from all walks of life came together on Sunday to participate in the Purple Run that was launched at Olcott School, Besant Nagar.

The run was organised by Forum Vijaya Mall to create awareness about Alzheimer’s disease. Hundreds of participants wearing blue t-shirts took part in four categories — 21 km, 10 km, 5 km and 3 km. The proceeds of the event held in four cities, including Chennai, will be donated to the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences towards research on the diagnosis, treatment and cure of Alzheimer’s.
