A. Ganapathy, Superintendent, Regional Transport Office (RTO), Poonamallee, was arrested by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) personnel on charges of demanding and accepting a bribe recently.

An official press release issued here said K. Murali of Avadi had lodged a complaint with the DVAC city unit (IV).

Mr. Murali had stated that the Poonamallee Regional Transport office employee was demanding money to clear seven applications for renewal of driving licences submitted through Mr. Murali’s driver training institute.

Subsequently, the DVAC personnel, led by K. Gajapathy, Deputy Superintendent of Police, set a trap for Mr. Ganapathy. He was arrested while he was ‘accepting a bribe’ from the complainant at 2 p.m. at his office at Poonamallee, the release said. – Staff Reporter
