Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi on Saturday said repair and minor works were being done on the Mullaperiyar dam on a continuing basis as was being done on other dams, and it was not correct to say that they were being done only now.
He said in a statement that some newspapers in the State were publishing the views of the Kerala government on the Mullaperiyar dam issue that were contrary to the submissions already accepted by the Supreme Court where the matter was pending.
It would not be in their interest to blow out of proportion the Kerala government's views on the subject. Because of this, readers were confused on the issue.
