Vice-chairman of University Grants Commission, H. Devaraj, on Monday fondly recalled his association with eminent educationist K.R. Sundarajan, calling him his mentor and guide.
Prof. Devaraj was speaking at the college day and founder’s birthday celebrations of Meenakshi College for Women. He said. Prof. Sundarajan was a great teacher and an able administrator, and was known for making education accessible to all.
Mr. Devaraj also distributed prizes to students of the college. Scholarships from State Bank of India were also awarded to meritorious students. M. Karpagam, principal of the college, said they were organising monthly events to commemorate the centenary year of their founder, Prof. Sundarajan.
“That way, students studying in the college now, who never had a chance to interact with him, will get to know what a great visionary he was,” she said.
