Ramanuja anniversary: HC fiat to govt.

The Madras High Court has directed the State government to make proper arrangements for conducting the 10-day festival commemorating the 1,000th birth anniversary of Hindu theologian Ramanuja at his birth place in Sriperumbudur near here.

The First Bench of Acting Chief Justice Huluvadi G. Ramesh and Justice M. Sundar passed the order while disposing of the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) petition moved by International Sri Vaishnava Ramanuja Samrajaya Sabha.

According to the petitioner, lakhs of people, who are followers of Ramanuja, are expected to attend the 10-day festival commencing from April 22 till May 1.
