The State government has come up with qualification norms for Vice-Chancellor aspirants for State universities.

The document will be gazetted and provided to the V-C search committees.

While it will not be available in the public domain, anyone wanting to access it would be allowed to look at it.

The qualification criteria have given importance to teaching, research and administrative requirements.

In general, a V-C aspirant should have a Ph.D. in the relevant field and must be a professor with a minimum of 10 years experience or should have teaching experience of 20 years in a university or college offering PG programmes; or he/she should have been employed in a publicly funded research institution, university or college offering PG.

The qualifying clause includes work experience in a self-financing institution or deemed university.
