Publish written exam marks before calling for interview, TNPSC told

May 16, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:01 am IST - CHENNAI:

Expressing dissatisfaction over the methodology adopted by the TNPSC while recruiting candidates to various posts, the Madras High Court observed that the Commission should publish the marks obtained by candidates during the written exam during all recruitments before successful candidates are called for an interview.

Disposing off petitions, Justice D. Hariparanthaman in a common order said that the TNPSC shall publish the marks of all candidates who appeared for the written examination in respect of all the recruitments, before calling candidates to appear for interview based on their marks.

As he was “inclined to record the dissatisfaction” of the court over the methodology adopted by the Commission by not publishing the written exam marks before the interview, the judge also said that the Commission need not seek to verify certificates before conducting the interview.

“At the time of selection, the TNPSC has to look into the certificates. Before the same, certificate verification is not necessary,” he said.

As for the ratio of calling the candidates for interview, the judge left it open to the TNPSC to decide as per the rules. Petitioners M. Vijay Keerthi and P. Thamilarasi, who had appeared for the recruitment of Assistant Engineer (Industries) in the Tamil Nadu Subordinate Service by the TNPSC had moved the court, after the Commission published only the marks obtained by those who were selected for the interview.
