Around 4 p.m., over 75 cadre of the Indian National League party burnt an effigy of BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on Santhome High Road.
Swamy’s residence is located near Santhome Basilica, on Papanasam Sivan Salai, which was under armed police cover following Ms. Jayalalithaa’s arrest on Saturday.
Following a 30-minute long protest, the cadre dispersed after the police intervened. Traffic was diverted on Marina Link Road during the agitation.
