Demanding an inquiry into the recent death of Tirupur-based postgraduate medical student G. Saravanan at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin on Wednesday also urged the State government to ensure the safety of Tamil Nadu students studying in other States.
In a statement here, he said Saravanan’s death was shrouded in mystery as the Delhi police had also announced that a lethal dose had been injected on his right hand.
“As there is an intense competition to get admission into the AIIMS, students doubt that Saravanan could have been a victim of that competition. His father Ganesan also said that his son had problems,” Mr. Stalin contended.
He said Saravanan had been injected with some lethal dose in his right arm and this has raised a lot of questions over the circumstances surrounding is death.
“A right hander (Saravanan) cannot inject something on his own in his right hand,” Mr. Stalin argued.
CPI(M) demands
fair probe
The Tamil Nadu State Committee of the CPI (M) on Wednesday urged the Centre to order a fair investigation into the suspicious death of Saravanan.
In a statement, CPI (M) state secretary G Ramakrishnan said, the young doctor had been found dead under mysterious circumstances, with a syringe on his right hand.
“His father works in a clothing factory in Tirupur and Saravanan had succeeded in getting a postgraduate seat in AIIMS amidst tough competition. To say that he would throw it all away two weeks after joining a new course is shocking,” Mr Ramakrishnan contended.
“There were bruises on Saravanan’s face which leads to the suspicion that this was a murder,” said the statement.
