Private bus driver attacked

An armed gang attacked a private bus driver in Pillayarpalayam on Tuesday afternoon. The driver was seriously injured. According to police, the victim, Sekar (37) of Killiyur works as a driver for a company in Irungattukottai. Around 2.30 p.m., Sekar got into a fight with three persons travelling in an autorickshaw on Pudupalayam Street, as they refused to give way to the bus. When the bus got to Putheri Street around 3 p.m., a six-member-gang on three motorcycles intercepted the vehicle, attacked Sekar with weapons and fled. Sekar was rushed to hospital the district government headquarters hospital and later taken to Government Stanley Hospital in Chennai, police said.
