A 58-year-old prisoner on life-term allegedly committed suicide by hanging inside a toilet at Puzhal jail on Friday.
According to the police, Debacis (58), convicted in connection with a murder in Vellore, did not return after he went into the common toilet inside AB-I block of Puzhal prison.
He was found hanging from his towel. Jail warders rushed him to the Government General Hospital where doctors declared him ‘brought dead’.
A case was registered at the Puzhal police station and further investigation is on.
