Preference for Tamil-medium candidates in jobs

September 08, 2010 01:53 am | Updated 01:59 am IST - CHENNAI:

An ordinance has been promulgated by the Governor to give preference to persons who have studied in Tamil medium for jobs in the State.

According to the gazette, candidates who have studied in the Tamil medium have little chance of getting employed in the Central government, other State Governments or in the private sector.

Therefore, preference needs to be given to such persons in the State government services.

It has been decided to set apart 20 per cent of the vacancies for direct recruitment of persons who have studied in the Tamil medium, the Gazette said.
