A 47-year-old cook died on Monday night after he allegedly slipped and fell from the third floor of the restaurant in Royapuram where he worked.

Police suspect that he was under the influence of alcohol during the time of the incident.

Police sources identified the victim as Radhakrishnan, a native of Pollachi, who resided and worked at the restaurant on Cemetery Road in Royapuram. After work hours the cook had gone to the third floor and consumed alcohol.

While he was loitering around on the terrace, he lost balance and fell from the top floor to the ground below.

He suffered severe head injuries and died on the spot.

Following preliminary probe by the Royapuram police, Radhakrishnan’s body was sent to the Government Stanley hospital for post-mortem.
