May 11, 2017 01:00 am | Updated 01:00 am IST - CHENNAI

Power supply was disrupted in several areas in north Chennai and portions of central Chennai on Wednesday due to a technical snag in the feeder lines supplying power to Tondiapet substation. Washermenpet, Royapuram, Mannady, Sowcarpet, Chintadripet and Egmore were among the areas affected.

A Tangedco official said a line cut in the high tension tower conveying power from Manali to the 230 kilo volt (KV) Tondiarpet substation forced officials to cut power between 2 p.m. and 4.30 p.m.

R. Arulselvan, a resident of New Washermenpet, said supply which was cut around 2.30 p.m., was restored only in the evening.

The official said supply would be normal by Wednesday night.
