Power generation resumed at the Dam Power House and Thermal Power House at the Mettur dam site, following the release of 10,000 cusecs of water from the dam into the river.

The Public Works Department stepped up the release of water from Mettur dam to 2,000 cusecs on Tuesday evening and further increased it to 10,000 cusecs at 5 a.m. on Wednesday.

The increase in the release of water was for the ongoing Maha Pushkaram.

The water is being released through the Dam Power House (2,000 cusecs) and Thermal Power House (8,000 cusecs) to enable resumption of power generation activities.

The water level in Mettur dam stood at 77.33 ft on Thursday against its full level of 120 ft.

The storage level stood at 39.348 tmc against the dam’s full capacity of 93.47 tmc. The inflow into the dam was 10,198 cusecs.
