Post-mortem confirms Dalit youth was murdered

July 03, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:40 am IST - CHENNAI:

V. Gokulraj, the Dalit youth whose body was found along the railway track in Namakkal district, was killed using a sharp-edged weapon and not run over by a train.

The three-member team of doctors that conducted the post-mortem have concluded that the injuries were not because he was run by a train. The doctors opined that Gokulraj appeared to have died due to the “deep cut injuries to neck”.

The report further explains that the injuries to the skull were due to crushing force of a blunt object.

The doctors – K. Gokularamanan, R. Sangeetha and P. Sampath Kumar – have sought X-ray, DNA analysis, microbiological and histopathological reports to give the final opinion.

Based on the post-mortem report, the police altered the case of suspicious death to murder and arrested six persons.

The allegation is that Gokulraj, an engineering graduate, was in love with a caste Hindu girl. He was last seen going to a temple with her. The family and friends of the victim alleged that he was abducted and murdered by a gang. Gokulraj was forced to give a statement in front of camera after which he was done to death.

The beheaded body was thrown on the railway track to make it appear as if he committed suicide by jumping before a train.
