Police nab man trying to break open ATM

A 32-year-old man, under the influence of alcohol, attempted to break open an ATM located at LB Road in Thiruvanmiyur late of Thursday. He was nabbed by a police patrol team after the alarm installed in the kiosk went off.

Police sources said the kiosk belong to the Indian Bank branch was targeted by suspect Arumugam, a daily wage labourer and a resident of Periyar Nagar, Thiruvanmiyur. He broke the base of the ATM with a stone in a bid to get to the cashbox. He was caught when he tried to flee after spotting the police party. He was apprehended and is being questioned further.
