The Vadapalani special team for crime cases has arrested a 43-year-old burglar whose would use rear view mirrors stolen from two-wheelers to look into the houses he was about to target.

According to the police, Karupusamy (43) of Thoothukudi was arrested by the special team.

He was involved in over 10 house break cases in Virugambakkam and Vadapalani. A total of 105 sovereigns of jewellery worth over Rs. 25 lakhs was recovered from him.

Police said that he never used torches to look into the houses he was about to burgle.

“He used to steal the rear view mirror from any vehicle parked in the house or the street. He used the mirror to view the interior and then steal, from the house,” said a senior police officer.

He has been remanded to judicial custody.
