The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) here on Sunday produced video recordings allegedly showing electoral malpractices in Pennagaram.
T. Velmurugan, election committee chairman, PMK, said locals and PMK members had intercepted trucks carrying dhotis, saris and rice bags with a party flag on them, and the materials were now at the Dharmapuri Collectorate building.
Action not taken
Though the videos had been shown to election officials, Mr. Velmurugan said no action had been taken so far.
PMK founder S. Ramadoss said his vehicle had been subjected to repeated inspections at police checkposts. “The State government is not showing even minimum respect due to a party leader and is humiliating me,” he said.
Mr. Velmurugan also showed video clippings of the police beating up some people and said the incident had occurred when the party members had asked the police to explain their actions at a checkpost when they had suddenly stopped PMK leader and MP Anbumani Ramadoss.
“I have been writing continuously to Election Commission officials but no complaints have been filed against the erring officials who have let the ruling party indulge in corrupt practices brazenly,” Mr. Velmurugan claimed.
The police and administration officials were targeting senior leaders of the PMK to discourage its cadre, he alleged.
