PMK plan to make farming viable

May 25, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:33 am IST - CHENNAI:

PMK founder Dr.S. Ramadoss has come up with a 27-point programme to make farming viable once again in Tamil Nadu.

After consulting leaders of various farmers associations in the State, he presented it at a press conference here. The programme required a number of measures, such as increasing water level in Mullaperiyar dam to 142 ft from the present level of 136 ft and withdrawal of Land Acquisition Bill.

Referring to the negative growth in agricultural sector, Dr. Ramadoss said the life of the farmers would not improve till two major Dravidian parties were prevented from gaining power.

“Successive Dravidian governments have ignored the farmers. We now have a government in which the Minister for Agriculture himself is in jail,” he said.

Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss criticised the welfare model of the present government.
