PMK moves HC for Governor’s response

The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) has moved the Madras High Court seeking a direction to the Secretary to the Governor to inform the court about the action taken on its representation levelling several corruption charges against the State government.

When a petition filed by PMK president G.K. Mani came up for hearing, Justice M. Sathyanarayanan posted the matter for June 9 for its maintainability.

G.K. Mani, president of PMK, in his petition submitted that a representation dated February 17, 2015 alleging charges of corruption in the State government was submitted to the Governor with documents.

The report contained 18 charges and a letter requesting the Governor to initiate action by invoking the jurisdiction conferred on him under article 163 (1) of the Constitution.

On receipt of the representation, the Governor promised to initiate action by calling for an explanation from the State of Tamil Nadu, he claimed. The petitioner was constrained to submit a reminder on March 13 to the Governor, but no action was taken and hence the petition.
