The former Union Minister and PMK Chief Ministerial candidate, Anbumani Ramadoss, on Monday demanded that the State government call for an all-party meeting on the issue of Karnataka trying to build check-dams across the Cauvery.

Leading a protest against the Karnataka government at Valluvar Kottam here, Dr. Anbumani rued that political reasons were keeping parties in Tamil Nadu away from uniting on such an important issue.

If the proposed check-dams are built by Karnataka, the entire Cauvery delta region in Tamil Nadu would turn into a desert, he said.

Meanwhile, the Congress on Monday took to the streets against the new Land Acquisition Bill brought in by the Centre.

The TNCC president, E.V.K.S. Elangovan, said the Bill proved that the Narendra Modi government was pro-corporate and not pro-farmer.
