Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) chief ministerial candidate Anbumani Ramadoss on Sunday flagged off a bicycle rally to highlight the party’s announcements, at the Marina here.

Addressing the public , Dr. Anbumani said the team would be visiting nook and corner of the streets in the city and the State and distribute pamphlets about the several announcements, including total prohibition, corruption-free governance and free and quality education on a par with CBSE standards, made by the party for the Assembly elections.

Criticising Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, who till last month had claimed that total prohibition could not be implemented in the State, Dr. Anbumani said the fear of defeat in the coming election had forced her to make a volte face by announcing prohibition in phases at the AIADMK’s election meeting in the city on Saturday.

Dr. Anbumani pointed out that the PMK had been conducting a campaign seeking a ban on liquor for more than 24 years, which would be fulfilled if the party was elected to power. He also said the party would focus on improving agriculture and create more job opportunities to the youth.

The cycle team comprising 10 cycles each carrying a sound box would be going around the city to publicise the announcements to voters.
