Plea to hold re-exam for Plus-Two math paper

March 26, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:53 am IST - CHENNAI:

The Madras High Court on Wednesday directed the Additional Government Pleader to get instructions by April 7 as to why it should not order a re-examination in mathematics in Standard XII public examination this year as it was alleged that the question paper was leaked. The examination was held on March 18.

Justice T.S.Sivagnanam passed the order on a petition by N.Veeranan of Annanagar West here. He submitted that his daughter V.Rina had appeared for the Standard XII public examination.

On March 22, there were news reports that four teachers of a private school at Hosur had taken photograph of the mathematics question paper, sent it to various persons and got answers through “WhatsApp.”

This was sent to the same teacher who supervised the examinations in the school concerned.

A total of 118 employees of the Education Department were transferred for the malpractice.

He submitted that marks scored by candidates in the Plus Two examination was very crucial in deciding their future. Leak of question paper would affect students who had toiled for the examination.

Hence, a re-examination should be conducted, the petitioner said.
