Plastic bags, sachets seized from Marina

The Chennai Corporation on Friday seized plastic bags weighing five kgs, 160 water sachets, 280 plastic cups and two kg of tobacco products on the Marina beach. According to a press release, the Health Department officials of the civic body also seized impure groundwater sold in plastic bottles at the beach.

Another press release from the Corporation said that food products sold in three shops were seized on Friday as they were found to be of substandard quality.

The samples of food products taken from a shop each in Pulianthope, Kodambakkam and Basin Bridge were found to be adulterated. Action has been initiated against the shop owners under the provisions of The Prevention of Food Adulteration Act 1954, the release said.
