Plan to study feasibility of bridge across Adyar river

Mayor M.Subramanian on Thursday directed Corporation officials to study the feasibility of constructing a bridge across the Adyar river near Annai Sathya Nagar.

Inspecting localities with civic problems in K.K.Nagar on Thursday, Mayor M.Subramanian also asked Metrowater officials to carry out restoration works of sewerage in the locality. OSR lands in the locality would be converted into parks and playgrounds soon, he said. As part of the inspection, the Mayor identified narrow stretches of K.K.Nagar Main Road which required land acquisition for widening. John Kennedy Street, Muthumariamman Koil Cross Street, Zakir Hussain Street and Govindasamy Street are among those to be repaired. Mr.Subramanian ordered officials to install new streetlights in areas that required such facilities. He also inspected the construction work of houses under the BSUP scheme in the locality and ordered desilting of stormwater drains. A total of 145 bicycles were distributed to students of Chennai School, Govindasamy Street, K.K.Nagar.
