South India Philatelists Association (SIPA), a non-profit organisation, is organising a stamp exhibition on August 11 and 12 at Dharmaprakash Hall, Dr. Alagappa Road, Purasawalkam.

The objective of organising this event is to educate students and the public on culture, heritage, history, flora, and famous personalities.

Another main feature is that nearly 30 dealers from all over India will be selling various stamps. Workshops and quiz on philately will be conducted.

South India Philatelists Association (SIPA) was founded in1956 by enthusiastic stamp collectors, who felt the need for a stamp collector’s club in Madras (Chennai now). SIPA was established with the objective of promoting philately by creating awareness.

SIPA conducted its first exhibition in 1959. After that, five exhibitions were organised with the support USIS and seven more independently at regular intervals.

Both Mint (unused) and used stamps can be collected year-wise or country –wise or theme wise.

Themes can be flowers, birds, wildlife, architecture, railways, monuments, and personalities.
