Justice T.S.Sivagnanam on Thursday dismissed a petition by M.Vairavel, Namakkal district secretary of the Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhagam, seeking police permission to hold a public meeting on “self-respect awareness” at Tiruchengode on Friday.

In the order, the Judge said the petitioner had sought permission for the meeting to focus on the objections raised against the novel. Permission cannot be granted as the First Bench was seized of the matter relating to the controversy. Hence, the petitioner should await the First Bench’s decision.
