The passenger, identified as Ganesh Veerabahu, 65, a resident of Chennai, is believed to have suffered breathlessness mid-air. His wife Jaya, who accompanied him, alerted airline crew. The couple was returning home after a trip to Kolkata.

“The airline crew immediately alerted the ground staff, who arranged a doctors’ team to provide medical care. The crew provided first aid and a medical emergency was declared on board,” said a source at the airport.

On landing, a medical team declared him dead.
