Parithi Ilamvazhuti discharged from case

A special court here has discharged former minister Parithi Ilamvazhuti and his wife from a case registered against them by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) for suspected possession of unexplained assets. The case was registered last year after raids on his premises. According to the agency, Mr. Parithi during his tenure as minister in the DMK regime had accumulated assets in his name and also in the name of his family members. The DVAC also alleged that he had accumulated movable/immovable assets to the tune of Rs.1.56 crore during 2006- 2010. A case had been registered against him and his wife under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
