A committee, comprising transport unions and management of transport corporations, will discuss the issues pending since the last wage agreement talks.

The meeting would take place on Saturday.

The decision was arrived at after the seventh round of talks held at the Metropolitan Transport Corporation training centre in Chromepet on Wednesday.

The meeting was presided over by Principal Secretary of Transport Department, Chandrakant B. Kamble, in which leaders from 47 trade unions participated.

After negotiations with the trade union leaders, the transport officials agreed to set up a committee to discuss pending issues before the next round of talks scheduled for June 1.

Labour Progressive Federation treasurer, K. Natarajan, said, “Trade union leaders demanded that the strike period should be treated as ‘leave’ which was agreed upon by the government during the meeting earlier. So far the transport workers were marked absent for four days. The state transport authority informed the leaders that they would get back after consulting with the Transport Minister.”

Anna Workers Federation leader R. Chinnaswamy said that procedures are on to get another Government Order for sanctioning of ₹500 crore. The retired employees would be settled their gratuity dues within two days and working staff would be paid part of their dues before September-end. Both were agreed by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and the pending issues would be sorted out before next round of wage negotiations, he hoped.
