A CB-CID team, investigating the murder of an elderly couple who were shot dead at their bungalow in Panaiyur on ECR last month, have apprehended three men from Bihar who allegedly sold guns to the killer.

According to police sources, the accused Shanmuga Sundaram alias Rajan (39) of Saidapet had gunned down K. Elangovan (69) and his wife Ramani (63) in an attempt to commit robbery at their house. The couple’s daughter-in-law and her two children were injured in the attack. Rajan, who was nabbed by members of the public immediately after the incident, died later in police custody.

CB-CID investigations that followed arrested Neeraj Kumar Nirala (19), Dev Chader Kumar (20) and Mohammed Pallu (33) from Munger district in Bihar on charges of illegally selling firearms to the accused.

The trio were produced at the Alandur magistrate court and remanded to custody.
