Palliative care physician wins award

Dr. Republica Sridhar, founder, RMD Palliative Care Trust, T.Nagar, was awarded ‘Dr. K. S. Sanjivi Award’ jointly by Ekam Foundation and Udhavum Ullangal on September 8 for service rendered to cancer and hospice patients.

The award was presented by Girijia Vaidhayanathan, Principal Secretary to Government, Health and Family Welfare.

Dr. Republica has been rendering home care service to bedridden and elderly patients. She has trained more than 65 nurses and 10 doctors in palliative care.

She also conducts palliative care training through RMD IGNOU Community College. She is a visiting palliative care physician at Adyar Cancer Institute. Dr. Republica can be contacted at 2815 7373/ 93810 16588.
