Paintings on water as precious resource

March 27, 2011 12:53 am | Updated 12:53 am IST - CHENNAI:

Every painting on display captured the different uses of water but the message they conveyed was the same - conserve the precious resource.

The paintings were some of the entries that the Central Ground Water Board office here received from school students for a state-level competition on sustainable use of water.

The competition was part of the initiatives of the Board to create awareness of judicious use of water among students. The valedictory of the World Water Week celebrations held at the Board's office in Besant Nagar on Friday served provided a forum for youngsters to narrate about their change of perspective on water use. The awareness programmes held in six city schools had served as an eye-opener to preserve the depleting source, which is being polluted, they said.
