Organs of 50-year-old man donated at Govt. Stanley Hospital

Heart, liver, kidneys, cornea and skin were harvested

The organs of a brain dead man were donated at the Government Stanley Hospital on Tuesday. The patient was a 50-year-old, who had had a fall in the bathroom. He was admitted to a private hospital and brought to the hospital on July 22.

He was treated in the ICU, but was declared brain dead on July 24. His family consented to the donation of his organs. The heart, liver, kidneys, corneas and skin were harvested. While the liver and skin went to the hospital, the kidneys and heart went to private city hospitals and the corneas to the Government Ophthalmic Hospital, Egmore.
