Online essay contest

The Sardar Vallabhabhai Patel Memorial Trust, Chennai, in association with SIV-G: Self Imposed Vigilance for Good Governance (www.siv-g.org) is organising a nationwide online essay contest for the students in the age-group of 15-23 years (as on 1.1.2012).

The annual contest is being organised for the sixth consecutive year, since 2007 as part of 137 birthday celebrations of Sardar Vallabhabhai Patel, with the theme ‘Integrity and good governance.’

The contest opens on September 20 for registration and submission of essays. The last date for submission of essay is October 20.

Topics

The essay may be written in English on any one of the three topics: (A) Sardar Patel – an icon for integrity in public life (B) Can a Lokpal root out corruption from India? (C) Integrity in public life – how important for achieving good governance?

Three cash prizes will be awarded to the best three essays. First prize will be Rs. 5,000, second — Rs. 3,000 and third — Rs. 2,000. In addition, consolation prizes will be awarded to contestants.
