A one-year-old girl died at the Institute of Child Health (ICH), Egmore, on Thursday.

A. Lakshitha reportedly had fever for two days. Her parents, residents of Nettukuppam, Ennore, had reportedly taken her to a private doctor first, before she was admitted to the ICH on Wednesday.

According to a hospital official, the cause of death was septicaemia and multi-organ failure. “The death has not been confirmed as a dengue death as an ELISA test has not yet been done,” she said.
