One arrested for trying to smuggle ketamine to Singapore

A 37 year-old man was arrested at Chennai airport on charges of smuggling ketamine concealed in a pressure cooker.

According to officials, Muthukumar Tamilmani of Chennai was nabbed on Saturday when he came to board a Singapore bound flight.

He had concealed 1.5 kg of ketamine,valued at Rs 1.5 crore, in a pressure cooker, officials said, adding, he was scheduled to hand it over to a ‘mediator’ in Singapore in return for cash and an air ticket to fly back to Chennai.

Ketamine, a veterinary anaesthetic, can cause hallucinations and is known to be used as recreational drug.
