The first day of the mega campaign by the Horticulture Department to promote vegetable cultivation on rooftops in the city, including areas coming under the Kancheepuram district, has received a tremendous response from the residents of Chennai.
More than 10,000 ‘Do It Yourself Kits’, each costing Rs. 500, were sold.
100 centres
The campaign was held in co-ordination with Chennai Corporation at 100 centres, which included Corporation parks and schools.
The campaign will be held throughout the year.
The Horticulture Department has its offices in Anna Nagar, Perambur, and Thiruvanmiyur.
The kits can be obtained from these offices, from Monday to Friday (from 10 a.m. to 5.45 p.m.).
