Petroleum dealers in the State will stop purchases on April 11, demanding that the Oil Ministry implement their 10-point charter of demands, which includes disbanding of marketing discipline guidelines.
Oil industry sources said that the 4,700 dealers in the State will join dealers all over the country in this protest. The guidelines were drafted in the 1990s to bring discipline to the industry, which was in the nascent stage at that point. “We have planned a series of protests. But we don’t want to put the consumer to hardship, which is why we are not purchasing oil,” explained a source.
