There has been an increase of about 15-20% in the number of schools seeking affiliation due to NEET, Mahesh D. Dharmadhikari, joint secretary and regional secretary, CBSE, said here on Wednesday.
Speaking at the release of Professor T.V. Devarajan’s book ‘Apollo Hospitals MCQ in General Medicine’, written for those aspiring for post-graduate admissions through NEET, he said, “In general too, there has been an increase in the number of schools wanting to register for CBSE and this has become pronounced after the announcement of the NEET exam. Also, more girl students have begun to enrol themselves in CBSE schools.”
Dr. Devarajan, an emiritus professor of Arupadai Veedu Medical College, Puducherry, said the book will be greatly useful for students appearing for examinations, including MD and MRCP. “There are about 3,000 questions in this book and I will supplement it with another 2,000 questions soon,” he said.
Justice P. Jothimani, after releasing the book, said the media should focus on such books and make sure they reach a larger audience so that people from both rural and urban areas are able to benefit.
“People may have different views about whether NEET is necessary or not but now that it has become mandatory, students should get the resources to perform well. There may be people from rural areas, who may not have the infrastructure and other necessary facilities and for them, the book will be greatly helpful,” he added.
