The Department of Posts will soon offer residents a chance to use stamps with their ‘selfies’ on postal covers.

All that one has to do to get a personalised ‘My Stamp’ is to get their ‘selfie’ printed on a stamp. ‘My Stamp’ will be issued with the photograph of the applicant at a cost of Rs.300. The selfie will be scanned and converted into a stamp of Rs. 5 denomination. Officials of the department said this was one of the popular facilities that was introduced in 2013 in the rest of Tamil Nadu. It was being launched in Chennai now.

If someone does not have a selfie ready, they can get one clicked on the spot as instant photo-printing facility may be made available soon. A sheet will have 12 personalised stamps.

The department has issued over 11,000 My Stamps since May 2013. Mervin Alexander, Postmaster General (Chennai City Region), said customers may submit their selfie in any form, even in a pen drive, to be converted into a stamp. They can get ‘My stamps’ at the comfort of their homes. They have to e-mail a filled-in form along with an ID proof and the selfie or photograph to chennaiphil@gmail.com.

Customers have an option to transfer money through net banking.
