Voters can now apply for Elector’s Photo ID Cards (EPIC) in colour from the comfort of their homes and get it delivered at their doorstep. The Election Commission has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with State Bank of India under which the bank will provide an online payment gateway for the application fee. The applications are available on the websitewww.elections.tn.gov.inand a fee of Rs. 42 would be collected. “People can use other bank cards as well to make the payment,” Rajesh Lakhoni, Chief Electoral Officer, said. The facility will be available from Wednesday.

Meanwhile, candidates filing sworn affidavits can check for errors in their affidavits on the EC’s website. “They can use the software to check and ensure the correctness of their affidavits. They can then print and get it notarised. Sometimes, in preparation of the affidavits, small errors creep in and their applications are returned. This will help candidates get their documents in order,” Mr. Lakhoni said.
