Airports Authority of India (AAI) officials have installed a fresh false ceiling in the security hold area in the new domestic terminal of Chennai airport.

Twenty panels – each measuring 4x4 feet – of the false ceiling in the departure area of the terminal came crashing down early on Monday morning.

S. Bhaduri, Executive Director (Project), said the repair work started around 11 a.m. on Monday.

Normally, work of this type would take a minimum of three days.

However, the AAI completed it within 17 hours.
