The Nemilicherry railway station, located between Pattabiram and Thiruninravur in western suburbs of Chennai, will be inaugurated on Friday. With this, a long-pending demand of the residents would be fulfilled.

M. Babu, president of Railway Passengers Welfare Association, said the facility would benefit more than one lakh people, including many students, who commute from and to Nemilicherry daily.

It took over five years for the work on the station, which was constructed at a cost of nearly Rs.1 crore, to be completed for various reasons.

Tiruvallur Member of Parliament P.Venugopal and Divisional Railway Manager S. K. Kulshrestha are scheduled to participate in the function to inaugurate the facility.
