There is no stopping the AIADMK juggernaut.

On Tuesday, 11,967 functionaries from various parties including the DMK, the DMDK, Congress and TMC joined the ruling party as members in the presence of party supremo and Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.

Welcoming them into the party fold, Ms. Jayalalithaa gave them the primary membership cards and assured that the faith they have reposed on her would not go waste.

Stating that the party’s aim was to ensure overall progress and inclusive growth, she hoped that the newly joined would strengthen her hands to make the State number one in the country.

Some of those who joined the party include Iniyan Sampath, TNCC leader E.V.K.S. Elangovan’s brother, who dissolved his Tamil Desiya Katchi to join the AIADMK with his followers and V.S. Babu, former DMK MLA and former secretary of North Chennai unit of DMK. A large number of functionaries from the DMDK and about 1,500 women also joined the ruling party.

Among those who switched sides were party functionaries from the DMK, the DMDK and the TMC
