On October 4, The Hindu will present Navavarana Mahotsavam , a tribute to composers Oottukkadu Venkata Kavi and Muttuswami Dikshitar.
Popular Carnatic artistes will present the suite of brilliant compositions of Kavi and Dikshitar — navavaranams — specially created for Navratri.
The event is open to all and will be held at The Music Academy, 5.30 p.m. onwards. Passes are available at the offices of The Hindu and The Music Academy from 10.30 a.m. on October 4.
In this one-of-a-kind event, each artiste will render a set of two Avarana kritis that will correspond to each day of Navratri. Both suites include a Ganesha stuti, dhyana stuti and mangalastuti .
